From their early days as a progressive group to their high-flying power-ballad days of the 80's, Journey remains one of the most popular bands from the AOR period. Their balanced attack of Steve Perry's dynamic vocals, Neal Schon's guitar work, and Jonathan Cain's keyboarding consistently proved successful, especially on such hits as "Don't Stop Believin'," "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)," and "Be Good To Yourself." Their core lineup of Schon, Cain, and Perry are rounded out by bassist Ross Valory, and famed fusion drummer Steve Smith. In recent years, the band has dealt with some lineup changes. Steve Perry left the band in 1998. Steve Smith left afterwards to continue his jazz career.

See the mountains
With my lady
As the eagle
In the golden sky
Towers over purple majesty
In the mountains
Lives a freedom
Theres a river
You can hear it say,
From the delta flows the liberty
As the twilight of evening is broken
Lacy, silvery, starlight unfoldin
round and round in a wave of emotion
Rings of love circles back to the spoken
Nothing equals a sea of devotion
Oooo, desire sets the wheels into motion
We all agree
We live to be free
They cant tell us
They cant tell us, how to be
We, we all agree
You individually
We the people
Share the power
