From their early days as a progressive group to their high-flying power-ballad days of the 80's, Journey remains one of the most popular bands from the AOR period. Their balanced attack of Steve Perry's dynamic vocals, Neal Schon's guitar work, and Jonathan Cain's keyboarding consistently proved successful, especially on such hits as "Don't Stop Believin'," "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)," and "Be Good To Yourself." Their core lineup of Schon, Cain, and Perry are rounded out by bassist Ross Valory, and famed fusion drummer Steve Smith. In recent years, the band has dealt with some lineup changes. Steve Perry left the band in 1998. Steve Smith left afterwards to continue his jazz career.

Did you ever stop to listen
To what youre missin, in the things you say
If you open up your eyes
Than youll realize, what I say
You can do what you want to
You can do if you try
You can do what you want to
You can do if you try
You take that golden rule
That you learned in school
And just throw it away
If youre well directed
Then youre protected, from the evil ways
(chorus)
You can do what you want to
You can do if you try
